Report: Patriots will hire Alex Van Pelt as their offensive coordinator

Jerod Mayo has reportedly identified an offensive coordinator for his first staff as Patriots head coach.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media says that the Patriots will hire Alex Van Pelt for the position. 

Van Pelt was fired by the Browns last month after four seasons with the organization.

Van Pelt has also served as the quarterbacks coach in Cleveland, as well as for the Bengals, Packers, Buccaneers, and Bills during his tenure. 

He also spent a decade playing quarterback in the NFL, and that experience appears to be critical to his role in 2024, as the Patriots' quarterback play needs to improve significantly.

The name of the quarterback with whom Van Pelt will work will remain unknown for the time being, b

ut the Patriots have decided who will lead the way for their offense on the coaching front.

so I was intrigued to see how much he had changed in front of a podium after spending the last decade coaching at Michigan, where he had a lot of success,
