Ranking the NFL's eight new head coaches.

The 2024 head-coaching hiring cycle has come to a conclusion, with the Commanders filling the final post on Thursday.

Here are the league's eight new head coaches, graded from worst to greatest.

This was by far the poorest of the eight potential jobs. Canales inherits a team that recently had the NFL's lowest record (2-15) and does not have a first-round pick.

The primary focus should be on assisting QB Bryce Young, the 2023 No. 1 pick, who threw 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as a rookie.

Canales has demonstrated his ability to accomplish so through his work with quarterback Baker Mayfield in 2023. However, without Tampa Bay's weaponry, his coaching will come under scrutiny.

Mayo has large shoes to fill with Bill Belichick's departure, and Robert Kraft's decision to replace the greatest coach of all time with a first-year head coach is hazardous.

Mayo has moved fast in the coaching levels after serving as the Patriots' linebackers coach from 2019 to 23.

But New England fans are eager to win again. After two consecutive losing seasons, Mayo is far from having a team capable of doing so.
