‘Outlander’ Season 1, Episode 1 Pilot Recap: Sassenach, Meet Highlander and Go Back in Time

Diana Gabaldon's time travel novels served as the inspiration for the TV series Outlander, which debuted in August 2014.

The narrative centers on married nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) during World War II. When she discovers time travel in 1946, she is taken back in time to 1743, Scotland,

where she meets Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). She is entangled in the uprisings and rebellions that made up the War of the British Succession.
