NBA Punishes Joel Embiid For Not Playing Against Nuggets

Joel Embiid missed Saturday's highly anticipated game against the Denver Nuggets, disappointing many fans who were hoping to see him face Nikola Jokic.

The game was nationally broadcast on ABC, so viewers missed out on a primetime duel between two of the league's top players.

The 76ers stated that Embiid was out due to knee pain minutes before tipoff, and the NBA has stepped in.

The NBA is pursuing action against the Sixers because they did not include Embiid on their injury report "in an accurate and timely manner.

"As many fans pointed out on Saturday, Embiid hasn't faced Jokic and the Nuggets in Denver since 2019.

Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris were among the 76ers who missed Saturday's game, joining Embiid.

Despite missing their stars, the Sixers managed to compete in Saturday's game, which the Nuggets won 111-105. Jokic and Jamal Murray combined for 49 points as Denver won at home.

Embiid will miss Thursday's game against the Utah Jazz due to a knee injury sustained earlier this week against the Golden State Warriors. Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga landed on Embiid's knee.
