After Deion Sanders was named the new coach, Colorado shot to fame in the collegiate football scene.

The Buffaloes' ascent to prominence in Boulder's environment and the expectations placed on the squad increased with the entrance of the Pro Football Hall of Famer.

USA TODAY Sports claims that the Buffaloes program appears to have broken numerous minor NCAA rules in 2023,

despite the excitement surrounding them during the season. At least 16 offenses were self-reported to the regulatory body by the university athletic department,

with the football program responsible for 11 of them.In a statement to USA TODAY Sports, Colorado stated,

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletic Department is committed to complying with NCAA regulations and will continue to educate our coaches, student-athletes, 

and staff to ensure that we remain in compliance.""In these particular circumstances, all of the minor infractions were self-reported to the NCAA, 

and we take all infractions seriously, regardless of their degree. This illustrates the efficacy of our in place compliance procedures, which form the cornerstone of our department's successful collaboration with the NCAA."
