The Steelers let go of their experienced quarterback before the NFL playoffs.

This season, the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback room has been crowded yet again.

The roster included Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph, all of whom had previously started for the organization.

However, Kenny Pickett's injury at the beginning of December created a temporary need for additional depth at the position.

This prompted the Steelers to add Trace McSorley to their practice squad last month. Unfortunately, his tenure with the Steelers has come to an end.

Despite being taken in the sixth round in 2019, McSorley remained on NFL rosters for the first four seasons of his career.

Despite only attempting 10 passes for the Ravens, McSorley was able to establish himself as the team's third-string quarterback for two and a half years.

After being demoted to the practice squad, he was called up by the Cardinals to conclude the 2021 season. Last season, he made his only NFL start.
