Rams’ Sean McVay Delivers Strong Message on Lions QB Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff played with a purpose on January 14. Goff faced his previous team, the Los Angeles Rams, which traded him and numerous first-round picks for quarterback Matthew Stafford.

There may be resentment on both sides. After the Lions upset the Rams 24-23 in the NFC Wild Card game, Sean McVay said he has none.

“Jared worked well. McVay told reporters after the game, "You could see his command." I believe it's overstated, but I'm delighted for him.

McVay praised his former quarterback for his postseason performance and his three-year response after the trade.

“Obviously, we wanted to win, but he’s done a great job,” McVay said. “I'm happy for Jared's grit, resilience, and performance here over the last three years.

“I certainly appreciate the four years that we had together.”

Goff completed 22 of 27 throws for 277 yards and a touchdown in the 1-point win.

Just the tempo—whether they were running the ball differently than expected, getting the ball out on time, or delaying us up front to get the ball to their talent players and make plays. We must make field-wide plays.
