Outlander's Captain Richardson traveled to the past—why?

It is revealed that Captain Richardson is a time traveler in the movie Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.

He has only one objective in mind when it comes to the Revolutionary War.

It has always been evident from the books what Richardson is up to. In his initial role as a British officer, he assigns William to a perilous mission that entails delivering messages to recognized Rebels.

Subsequently, he takes a different stance and becomes involved in the Benjamin Grey narrative.

We discover what he wants as well as the fact that he is a time traveler. Will he support their wishes or will it be the same as Claire and Jamie's?

Despite changing his allegiance and enlisting in the Rebellion, Richardson is revealed to be on the British side.

He switched sides, though it's unclear if he will be successful, in an attempt to stop the Americans from winning.

But why does he think the British will prevail? Is he genuinely of the opinion that America will be better off staying ruled by the Crown? Not really. He wants the British to win for one reason only.

Never expect Outlander Season 8 in 2024.
