Country Music Memories: Travis Earns Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Randy Travis earned his status as a personality whose artistic appeal extends far beyond country music nineteen years ago today, on September 29, 2004.
On that day, the singer, songwriter, and actor was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"It's a great honor, but it makes me feel out of place," Travis said of the occasion (via Country Weekly). "Most of the people are actors, and I'm a singer first and foremost."

Travis received the distinction less than two years after the publication of his crossover No. 1 song, "Three Wooden Crosses;"
He was preparing to record his gospel album, Passing Through, and had recently published his Top 10 The Very Best of Randy Travis collection.
By the time the Texan was inducted into the Walk of Fame, he was already a Hollywood celebrity:
Travis had over 30 film credits to his resume, including roles in At Risk, The Rainmaker, and Baby Geniuses.
Travis isn't the first country singer to be honored with the prestigious award.
Among those who have joined him on the Hollywood Walk of Fame are Kenny Rogers, Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, and the late Patsy Cline.
