Ayo Edebiri, star of "The Bear," frequently thanks Ireland in interviews and speech acceptances for awards. Why?

Ayo Edebiri, who starred in The Bear, walked the red carpet prior to her Emmy win on January 15 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

She addressed the camera while speaking with Entertainment Tonight, saying, "Shout out to my people! To Cork and Derry, let's shout! Dublin, shout out! Killarney, shout out!

Celebrities frequently use this platform to criticize their friends, family, and supporters. Edebiri's non-Irish heritage, however, is unique and a testament to his dedication to humor.

Nor is this the first time she has criticized the nation.

She addressed the audience during her acceptance speech at the Critics Choice Awards on January 14: "To everybody in Boston, Barbados, Nigeria, and Ireland in many ways." "Many thanks for that."

It all started with Edebiri making a joke during a March 2023 interview with Letterboxd at South by Southwest that she played "Jenny the donkey" in the Ireland-set movie The Banshees of Inisherin, which was nominated for Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars.

Edebiri went beyond just asserting that she portrayed the character; she subtly adopted an Irish accent while stating that she trained for the part for months on all fours.
