1883 Stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Talk About The "Devastating" Season Finale

Last night marked the conclusion of the first season of Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone spinoff series 1883, and wow, 

it was amazing. The American plains were traversed in this grueling western television series.

The show centers on the Dutton family as they travel through the Great Plains in the west in search of the final stronghold of wild America. 

It is both a sobering retelling of the history of Western development and a close examination of a family that left poverty behind in search of a better life in Montana, the promised land of America.

Although the show does follow the Dutton family's journey, the tale primarily centers on one character. 

That character is Elsa Dutton (Isabel May), who dies in her father's arms after saying a tearful farewell to her mother and father, James Dutton (McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill), following a torturous voyage.

Over the course of the series, you truly come to know and love these individuals, so when something like that occurs, 

it's extremely heartbreaking and devastating. However, 

 the filmmakers brilliantly portrayed the story they intended to tell.
